Sun in Cancer’s main purpose is to look after those he is closest to. He is a natural caregiver, and once he overcomes his initial caution, he’ll lavish his partner with love and attention. If he doesn’t have children, he may end up treating his lover like one. Depending on how she feels about being coddled and protected, she’ll find this suffocating or comforting. Sun in Cancer is extremely sensitive; this makes him a fantastically empathetic partner, but it also means that he is easily hurt. His partner will do well to remember that expressing appreciation for his efforts (and returning some of his nurturing) will keep him happy.
Moon in Leo is a child at heart. No matter how grown up she may appear on the surface, there is a child underneath that’s hungry for praise and love. If her lover is able to fuel her fire with attention, she’ll be a warm, ferociously loving partner. But if she feels ignored, a dramatic temper tantrum may erupt. It’s easy to forget that Moon in Leo is terribly sensitive; underneath the dramatic expressions of love (or anger) is someone who simply needs to feel adored. Give her this, and she’ll return the adoration full force.
Most of the time, these two seem to be made for each other. Sun in Cancer will hone in on Leo’s tremendous needs, and Moon in Leo will bask in the security of Cancer’s nurturing. He’ll have a purpose, and she’ll have someone who gives like no one else. Leo will return the favor, melting Cancer’s reserve with her praise and warmth. But Moon in Leo can be selfish, and there will be times when she takes advantage of Sun in Cancer’s (almost) unconditional love. This is when Cancer will have to speak up, and Moon in Leo will need to look up from her self-absorption. Otherwise, these two will descend into a moody whirlpool of hurt and resentment. But overall, this can be a passionately caring relationship.
