爱情行星落在六宫:服务型爱情

The 6th House represents work, daily routine and health. It’s not a house people associate with romance. But if your relationship planets (the Moon, Venus, Mars or ruler of your 7th House) are in the 6th, its themes will impact your love life. Understanding how this house functions can mean the difference between healthy, or unequal, partnerships.

It’s helpful to understand what this area of your chart is all about. The 6th is the house of inequality. It represents work, but it’s the work you do for others (in traditional astrology, it’s the house of servants). Its energy is about submission, duty, and obligation. Ego has a tough time expressing itself here. But this house is also where you perfect your skills and attend to the details that help your life run smoothly. Its natural ruler is Virgo. If you have relationship planets in this house, there’s a part of you (depending on the planet) that will approach relationships as work. You may also subordinate yourself to your partner. Let’s look at some examples.

Control and Servitude

Kelly’s 7th House cusp is in Capricorn, and Saturn (ruler of her 7th) is in 6th House Capricorn. She may be drawn to partners (7th House) who have authority (Saturn) over her. But the 7th House also describes Kelly’s projected qualities; she has that authority inside her (although she doesn’t openly express it). She might control (Saturn) the daily routines of her partner. Perhaps she takes full responsibility (Saturn) for all the chores, like mowing the lawn, hiring the plumber, buying her partner’s clothes and cutting his hair. She’s serving him, but she has full control over the minutia of his life. It’s a tricky mix of authority (Saturn) and service (6th House). Her sense of responsibility is strong, but it’s easy for her to strangle the more spontaneous aspects of love. However, she’d never be happy with a partner who didn’t share her attitude that a relationship must involve some kind of duty. Her “duty” is to not allow this approach to override the good things in life.

Impulsively Helpful

Jim’s Aries Moon is in his 6th House. His needs (Moon) revolve around initiating (Aries) useful activities (6th House). He needs to be of use to his partner, even though Aries is a selfish sign. In a different house (like the 1st) Jim’s Moon would impatiently push to have his needs met first. But in the 6th House of service, that impatience might be expressed as Jim energetically taking care of business for his lover. Maybe he sees that her desk needs organizing, so he just does it (without asking her permission). Perhaps he spontaneously (Aries) begins remodelling their kitchen (without checking with his partner) because he feels (Moon) bored. Any planet in the 6th House expresses itself through practical, external actions (even the instinctive Moon). The danger with this sign/house/planet mix is that authentic emotions can be avoided in favor of busy work. While Jim’s efforts are his way of showing that he cares, they can also be an escape from expressing his true feelings (if he’s bored or frustrated). Jim feels safest when he is in constant motion and taking care of business.

Going Unnoticed

Karla’s Venus in Leo sits in her 6th House. When the planet of love occupies the sign of Royalty, we would normally say that Karla loves to be treated like Queen. And she would express her love (Venus) by making herself the brightest star in the room (so her partner could glow with pride and shower her with praise). In the 6th House, Karla wants to be appreciated for what she can do for her lover. She still wants to shine, but she wants to do this by helping him run his life smoothly and looking after his health. But the energy of this house is about submission, so Karla may constantly struggle with lack of appreciation in her relationships. Her partners may take advantage of her generosity. Karla’s lesson is that her self-esteem (Venus) cannot be totally dependent on helping others. However, co-worker (6th House) relations should be a piece of cake; she can charm the socks of off anyone she works with.

Routine Sex

Ben’s 6th House Mars (energy, initiative and sex) is in Scorpio. He’s got that formidable, fixed sex drive, but it’s sitting in the house of duty. Sex becomes something that must happen, because it’s part of his routine. Actually, any kind of relationship routine will be difficult for him to break; doing x y or z at 6:00 o’clock with his partner (every night) will have to happen, come hell or high water. Ben’s a driven worker, and gets things done. But there’s also a mechanical undertone to his actions (especially in the bedroom) that can be off-putting. His partner may wonder if he’s with her because he wants to be, or because he has to be. But we are talking Scorpio (the sign of passion) so with Ben it’s probably a combination of both. Even in the duty-bound 6th House, Mars in Scorpio only does what it wants.

As always, you need to look at the entire chart to see how someone will express themselves in a relationship. But if the 6th House is involved, part of that expression will involve duty. If you’re a 6th House planet person, you are to be commended for your relationship work ethic. Just make sure you don’t swap passion and fun for routine. If you’re partnered with a 6th House person, be careful that you don’t take advantage of their willingness to do things for you. A little appreciation goes a long way.
